  Abbie Richert  

Abbie works as an entrepreneur and freelance writer where she is often able to advocate for causes she is passionate about; in 2016, she had the opportunity to document the back-end realities of coffee cultivation in Colombia. She's currently launching her own cold-brew coffee company!

Abbie grew up just outside of Seattle, Wash., where she played competitively for both her varsity high school and premier club team. With a degree in International Studies, Abbie graduated from the University of Washington in 2012. During college she played club soccer and had the opportunity to play for the University of Belgrano while on exchange in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

Upon graduating from the University of Washington, Abbie headed back down south to Buenos Aires to work for LIFE, a non-profit which serves youth living in socially impoverished areas of the city. Immediately, she hopped on a women’s club soccer team, which built her community and showcased the importance of encouraging more women to get involved in the sport. With LIFE, Abbie led educational and recreational activities that aimed to improve the quality of life and development of local youth. After returning to Seattle in 2013, Abbie worked as a youth coordinator for a subset of the Union Gospel Mission that serves homeless and refugee women with children.

 

Abbie is an enthused and well-seasoned traveler, and has been all over South America, Europe and Israel. She has previously led Woza's Malawi, Costa Rica, and Peru programs. She loves learning about new cultures and understands how powerful soccer is as a tool to connect with the world.
